Harry Dowd

Harry was the youngest son of Patrick and Ellen. He was born 16th November 1900 in St. Helen Auckland. The family were at the time residing at 6 Peases Street (The Square)

Sadly he died before I was born (29 July 1945) on his way to work one morning, and photographs of him are very rare.

Below are a couple I have managed to locate.

Harry married his wife Ida (nee Sanderson) 31st December 1921, and the year after started producing their family

They had four children:

According to his death certificate, he died near Tindale Junction, whilst cycling to work early one morning - heart attack.

Like all his brothers and sisters, his children, and their children... they all attended the local school in St Helen.

Harry, like some of his brothers and sisters were all born at No. 6 Peases Street. Harry's 4 children were also born in the same house, as were Bella's 2 children. Peases Street is no longer standing (knocked down some years ago and redeveloped)
